Before joining Vuma Reputation Management, Roshnee Pillay held a senior management position for furniture retail group Ellerine managing the PR and media portfolio for six furniture brands and targeting different consumer markets in South Africa and in five neighbouring countries. She holds advanced diplomas in public relations and marketing & business management and a diploma in project management. She is registered as a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner (CPRP) with PRISA and currently serves on the PRISA Board and Tshwane University of Technology Advisory Board for Public Relations.
She is the past regional chairman for PRISA Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal and chairman for the Advisory Board for Public Relations Studies at the Durban University of Technology.
She started her career in public relations and communications while employed at the South African Sugar Association. She has worked extensively in the agricultural, media and retail sectors, with more than 15 years’ experience in agriculture
Roshnee has more than 20 years’ experience and expertise in reputation management, crisis management, stakeholder relationships, consumer public relations, issue management and social media strategies, and has a thorough understanding of the South African media landscape, and within countries in Africa and globally. Roshnee has also spent four years as a marketing executive at Independent Newspaper Group, marketing of the Independent on Saturday and the Daily News, a paper which is synonymous with Durban.
"I am committed to the transfer of skills and development, through personal mentoring, of young upcoming public relations professionals, particularly those from previously disadvantaged communities," says Roshnee. "I have therefore been involved in a large number of social upliftment and community-based programmes, such as The Daily News Milk Fund, Sarees for Good Karma and more recently the Lesedi Le Batho project in Mabopane and the Youth development and Green Economic Forum 2015 in Soshanguve.
Being a registered member of the professional body PRISA is important to her continuous development, helping her to keep up with industry trends and affording her opportunity to network with fellow members in the profession.
Roshnee joined Vuma Reputation Management as an Account Director and has been promoted to Business Director.
